Poe's Story

Poe is a striking double merle Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as his beautiful blue eyes. He was picked up as a stray alongside another double merle and ended up in a shelter, where both were scheduled to be euthanized. Thankfully, ARMA couldn't let that happen - they stepped in just in time, giving Poe and his companion the second chance they truly deserved.

Now safe in his foster home, Poe is slowly discovering that the world isn't such a scary place. But it's important to understand - Poe is deaf but appears to be able to see quite well. Poe meets people comfortably while on a walk, or out at a brewery. Despite these challenges, Poe is making steady progress, he is now comfortable with in his people in his foster home, building that trust/bond that he so deeply wants and needs and now readily accepts affection and hugs. Each new person is a process, but well worth it; he becomes your best buddy when you give him time.

Poe enjoys romping around the yard, chewing on toys, chasing a frisbee and feels most at ease when he's near the people he's learning to love.

Poe is currently living comfortably with 3 other dogs in his foster home and has learned to share attention, share treats/training time and goes on walks quite well. He has also become a cuddlier; as he continues to blossom and show how loving he can be.

Poe needs a special kind of home with a little patience initially - one that understands he simply needs to build trust. Poe is worthy of a chance, and may be the one who quietly steals your heart.

Apply at Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic, https://aussierescueofthemidatlantic.org/applications-2/
