PIRATE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION
Pretty Boy Pirate is the first arrival at the new BBBR Animal Care Facility.
He looks very content so far. Thank you to BBBR Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer for taking Pirate to the BBBR Animal Care Facility and getting him set up. This 50 lb pup is healthy and the vet thinks he is about 7 yrs of age. He is mellow and so easy to manage.

This is just another sad case of a middle aged dog abandoned at the shelter by his family.

Pirate is a beautiful bully mix that weighs 55 pounds. He was surrendered by his former owners along with a small female dog because they were moving into a home that doesn’t allow dogs. Pirate previously lived with four small dogs; three were female and one was male and he did well with them. We have noticed that he is not a fan of large male dogs here at the shelter. When we walked him past the cat kennels, his behavior was neutral. His only fear is stormy weather and has been known to chew things if he gets anxious. He’s a really good eater and isn’t picky about what he’s fed. He is not a fan of the cold weather and LOVES cuddling in blankets. We have worked with Pirate by socializing him more with adults, taking him on daily walks, etc. and has not shown this behavior for a few weeks now. He is just one big happy wiggle when you approach his kennel. We think he would be best suited in a home with calm kids over age 14. He takes food gently from your hand and loves to have his ears, back, hips and tops of his hind legs rubbed.
