Meet Piper!

A vivacious four-year-old Mixed Breed from Arlington, VA, whose spirit is a whirlwind of joy wrapped in a sunny yellow coat. This medium-sized bundle of energy, weighing in at thirty-five pounds, is on the lookout for an active and loving family that can keep up with her boundless enthusiasm and zest for life!

Piper’s playful and friendly nature makes her an instant hit with everyone she meets! She thrives on daily exercise and is at her happiest when running around with another playful dog. A fenced-in yard where she can sprint to her heart's content and a canine companion to share in her adventures would be a dream come true for her. When she's able to expend her energy outdoors, she transforms into a well-mannered and affectionate indoor companion. However, if she doesn’t get enough exercise, Piper tends to express her restlessness through increased barking, jumping, and pawing for attention.

Despite her high energy, Piper is a constant and loving companion who relishes being by her pet parent's side. Her formal obedience training has taught her the "sit" command, but she could benefit from further training to manage her excitement and exuberance, especially when indoors. Positive reinforcement and continued training classes would help her polish her manners.

Piper is crate trained and finds comfort in her crate during the night. She eats twice a day and enjoys a structured routine that includes plenty of physical activity. Though she's generally fine being left alone for short to medium periods, she can get anxious during thunderstorms and fireworks. A thunder shirt works wonders in calming her nerves during these stressful times.

Piper's sociable nature extends to other dogs and young children, making her an excellent addition to an active family with other pets! Her ideal home would include a decent-sized fenced yard and another active dog to play with. While her interactions with cats are uncertain, her friendly disposition suggests she might adapt well with a gradual introduction.
