Pickles Spaniel Mix Troy, VA

Pickles is an almost 5 year old, 43 pound spaniel mix who absolutely loves people. He's a sweet dog, and very good with adults and older kids. He needs lots of attention and time to play! He knows basic commands like 'come,' 'sit,' 'stay,' and 'shake.' Pickles had trouble adjusting when his family had a baby. He has some anxiety around larger dogs he doesn't know, and around small children (preschool and younger); he takes prozac once per day to help. Pickles has had trouble marking the baby's space and things, but he hasn't repeated this behavior anywhere else so we're hopeful it won't be an issue in his new home. With a lot of attention and exercise, his anxiety gets much better. Pickles is good on a leash, although meeting other dogs without anxiety will take some work. He loves being around people, and would be a great addition to a home that will give him lots of love, patience, and attention.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $300.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
