Meet Pickles

This dog can be adopted in the Rochester and Buffalo area's.

We are fenced yards only with wood, vinyl or chain link. No other fencing is accepted and a positive vet reference is required in your name of owning a dog prior or current. Applicant must be a home-owner and if children live in the home or you are babysitting for family, we require them to be 12 years old.

Pickles is a great dog and he is only 18 lbs. We know he looks larger in the picture but he really is a small dog with low grooming needs. His color is wonderful and he is chocolate or " taupe" color. He is a very unique color and his personality is very sweet. His background is unknown and he was rescued by a visiting nurse. She kept seeing him tied to a stove for many months and convinced the owners to surrender him. The rope he was on allowed him about 4 feet in the house and the door was kept open so he could go in and out but he was tied. The picture we have of him in his prior home will break your heart and I have kept this to show the new owner. No dog should live like this.

We are guessing his breed as only DNA would tell us the truth. He is a little guy, with ears and the unique color of chocolate. The ears could Chihuahua and we also see herding dog in his mannerisms. We are betting Cattle dog and ChiCuahua but we are guessing. He is only 18 lbs and is about 13 inches at the shoulder.

He is neutered, crate trained and has all his vaccinations. He is learning to walk on a leash as tied to a stove does not teach you anything! He started obedience 101 and did fabulous in his first class. He liked it and he has never had such a good life until coming to rescue.

He gets along with other dogs and can be seen running with the pack. We don't think he ever saw much before coming to rescue.

The adoption fee is $250.00 for this beautiful young dog and you will receive all the medical records. You also receive a Duffy's Friends ID tag. His vetting includes:
Neuter
Heartworm test
Rabies and distemper
Worming and microchip
Bath and Flea prevention.

He needs a second chance at a real dog's life and we thank the nurse who saw him weekly and decided to try to save him. She was his guardian angel and now its all positive from here.

The adoption application is on our website at Duffysfriends.org. All dogs are available and kept up to the minute for posting as available. The adoption process is:
Application
Interview on the phone
Arrangement to meet the dog at a pet store or we can bring him to your house for a meet and greet.
Vet reference check from your vet to ensure you visit the vet annually and have a relationship
A final home visit is when we leave the dog with you.

We suggest crating your dog for a while until the dog feels safe and secure.
