Pickle Pockets's Story

Born June 20, 2025, Pickle Pockets weighed in at 4.5 kg/10 pounds at her 1st vaccine appointment August 29th and 8.3 kg / 18 pounds September 23 at her 2nd vet appointment. At her final vaccine appointment, October 21 she weighed in at 12.8 KG / 28 pounds.

She can be shy at first, meeting new people and in new situations, but it only takes a minute and she's your new bestie, super engaged and friendly.

She has attended backstage events with Mattie’s Place; Hoozier, Lainey Wilson & Shawn Mendes and she was social and friendly and a real superstar, stealing hearts of everyone in attendance.

Pickle Pockets Mom is an owned dog. She had an accidental litter. Her Mom is being spayed by rescue and staying with the owner and the other littermates joined another rescue.

I don't know what mix breeds Pickle Pockets is, but a littermate of Pickle Pockets had a DNA test completed and the breeds came back as (I'm not confirming this is accurate DNA testing):

Siberian Husky: 22%
Akita: 19%
Alaskan Malamute: 19%
American Staffordshire Terrier: 19%
Great Pyrenees: 14%
Chinese Shar-Pei: 12%

I don't know her adult weight, but presumably 60 pound range given her current weight and Mom's size, but again, I really can't be sure and she could grow to be a 100 pound dog. We just never really know.

Her non negotiable spay date is: January 12 2026. This will all be written into the adoption contract. Her veterinarian is located in Unionville and you will be responsible for having her at those appointments, on those dates, so please check your calendars accordingly. This appointments are also all at the cost of Mattie's Place.

Pickle Pockets is in a foster home with another dog, 3 teen kids and Mom & Dad and she does well with everyone.

Pickle Pockets, as all puppies, would benefit from professional training post adoption, to ensure she grows into a spectacular adult girl.

Dogs, cats, kids are all okay as she's a puppy and has no predispositions.

She will need someone home most often, but can be home for a few hours on her own as she matures. But that said, she's still so young and will need someone to help guide her through the day while she navigates puppyhood so sitting home 8-10 hours a day, while her person is at work, lowers the chances of producing a great adult dog.

I think she'll be a more active dog as she's quite a busy and curious puppy. So an adopter that has some love for outdoor adventure would likely fill her soul best.

A REMINDER: puppies are so, so, so much work. Pickle Pockets will require months of dedication and commitment to ensure she grows into a wonderful adult dog.

Pickle Pockets does get car sick driving in the City. She's good for about an hour and then she does need a break to reset. She's still young, so she can outgrow this with regular driving experience. She can also be given Gravol, as directed by your veterinarian, for longer drives until she's more tolerable in the car.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Pickle Pockets is a lively puppy always up for some exploring and fun.

She is shy when she first meets anyone and takes a little bit to warm up. She seems to warm up to women faster than men, but she ends up loving everyone.

She loves her canine foster brother, Hedwig and follows him around everywhere - always observing. They play and nap well together.

She is potty trained now and consistent.

She sleeps well in her crate all night,

She is very loving and loves being close to anyone in the family who is giving her attention. She'll curl up next to you after an energetic play and nap peacefully.

I've vacuumed and played music and she seems to take it all in stride.

Pickle Pocket is also very good at climbing stairs without issue, up and down.

---------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

---------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in its current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
