Phoenix (4YO) is one of six dogs that came to us from North Dakota. All of the dogs were kept outside with minimal shelter and care standards. He has been with his foster family for over a year now and is finally starting to get comfortable enough to show some signs of his age.
The Perfect Home for Phoenix...
Phoenix's home will require physical barrier fence (he is a flight risk and a strong puller with little leash experience). An invisible, or otherwise electric fence system, is NOT acceptable. He has had some mistreatment in the past and adopters should be aware that he will need a non-confrontational home that allows him to move at his own pace. A calm home with a steady routine is preferred. He does have experience being left home for up to 8 hours, crated (54") or confined to an indoor kennel (5'x5'). He is not a dog that will enjoy taking frequent day trips - he prefers to stay home. We are seeking a home for him without children - he startles easily and is still extremely fearful of things he doesn't know or understand. He does well with other dogs, and seems to ignore the cats in his foster home. Ideally, his new home would have an established, adult dog, aged 3+.
Applicants for Phoenix will be required to be within distance of an in-person home visit, which is generally within 2 hours of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
Adoption fees vary depending on the dog, but range from $300-$600.
