At around 10 months old, Petunia has already been through more than most dogs her age. When she first came to us, Petunia was scared, shy, and unsure of the world around her. With time, patience, and positive experiences, she’s started to come out of her shell—but she’s still a cautious girl who needs a home that will give her the time and space to truly flourish. Petunia is looking for a calm, dog-savvy home—ideally with adults only, as she has some resource guarding behaviors and does best with structure and predictability. She can be nervous in new environments and around strangers, so slow introductions are key. But once she feels safe, you’ll start to see the sweet, affectionate pup underneath. She’s still learning how to be a dog, and that includes things like leash manners, confidence-building, and continued housebreaking—all areas where she’s already made real progress. With other dogs, Petunia can get overstimulated, but she does well with calmer male dogs after slow, proper introductions. A mellow canine companion with a similar energy level could be a great match. Petunia would thrive with an active, experienced owner who understands reactive dogs and is committed to training and helping her build confidence at her pace. She loves being outdoors and would make a great hiking or long-walk buddy once she bonds with you.
