Meet Petunia

AUG 4: Tuni was adopted mid-July but she has unfortunately come back to us. While I'm thrilled to have her back, I'm very sad for her. What we've learned from this attempt at finding her forever home is that Tuni doesn't do well when she's left entirely alone for extended periods of time. She should go into a home where there is someone home (maybe working at home) or where there is another dog to keep her company. We also learned that she is a great little jogging companion so if you're looking for a dog that can keep you company quietly during the day and energetically during your jogs, this is the girl for you!!!JUL 11: Petunia, or Tuni as we call her, is an absolute joy! She is THE perfect dog! She is a very calm and mellow little girl, her biggest joy is just to be with her human. Well, she might like belly rubs more... She doesn't bark like most puggles do, and she's not at all hyper. She's approximately 2 years young and she's had at least 1 litter of puppies before she ended up in the shelter. She's now spayed and fully vetted and ready to be found by her forever family.Tuni - given this nickname by a 3-yr-old who couldn't pronounce Petunia - is a smart little cookie! She is housetrained and crate trained, but she is the one dog in my house who is NOT crated when I leave for work in the morning because she's the only one who is well-behaved enough that she doesn't have to be! I would definitely advise that if your windows are 1 foot off the ground or lower that you don't leave them open while you're gone. I came home one night to find her sitting in my windowsill and when she saw me pull up she jumped right out through the screen! She didn't run away though, she just ran right up to me and gave me the best hello, staying right by my side the whole way back into the house.Tuni will be one of those dogs that is very hard to say goodbye to, so she's got to go to a very special home. She'd do fine with any other animals and with children. She just needs to be adored, as she is soooo deserving of nothing less!MAY 30: Petunia is arriving today from Burns Flat, OK where she had run out of time at the shelter. She was in a temporary foster home for a week in OK prior to transport and for another week in Albuquerque while she was making her way to San Diego. Everyone who has met her has fallen in love with her, so I'm looking forward to her arrival this evening!Petunia hasn't been spayed yet so that will have to happen once she arrives, but otherwise she's ready to go, so start working on those applications!!
