Description:

Pete is a former hunter who still has a lot of hunt and determination in his personality. He is a strong boy who loves to run and search for lizards and squirrels and the birds flying by always catch his attention. He will need a large yard and if it has a lake, pond or pool that’s even better. You will find him in his fosters pool multiple times a day to cool off during his yard hunts or diving in the rain runoff during his walks. He does enjoy an afternoon siesta, but he’s not down for long before the yard calls again.

As he is starting to get more comfortable with a loving inside life in his foster home, his personality is becoming more animated; playing with toys, rooing and wrestling with his foster brother. He is a dominate boy who would do well with another dog who is playful, fun and easy going but confident and who enjoys rough housing. He will not do well with another dominant dog. A physical fence is a must as his past hunting life utilized an e-collar causing some adverse behaviors which he is overcoming with gentle guidance and training. He is learning that human love is a sweet thing and will give kisses and loves pets but will need an owner who will continue gentle training to work with him to rebuild his confidence and trust to continue to bring out his sweet setter personality.

Pete is crate trained but can take it or leave it. He is not destructive and is house trained. His foster crates all the dogs when leaving the house as a precaution but he would do fine left on a couch.
