Penny is looking for her hero. We wish Penny could talk and tell us her history, we can only tell you what we know. Penny is about 45 pounds, and was found to be living in a rural impoverished area in Texas, had her babies out in the cold under an abandoned trailer. When the freezing temperatures were approaching, a huge effort was made to catch her and babies, she was very scared and in the end had to be lassoed, as you can imagine, it was traumatizing.

Penny needs an understanding patient dog-savvy adopter, using only positive reinforcement (she is very responsive to high value treats) to reassure her that she is safe, to give her time to just decompress and feel like a normal dog, We are committed to helping with training guidance to help her settle in if needed. She has made amazing strides in her foster home, loving attention and cuddles, playing with toys and a doggie friend but is still adapting and will still need regular positive reinforcement training sessions (rescue will provide professional training advice if needed). She is super loving and will make a wonderful companion. Best case scenario is likely a home with a single woman or two (although Penny's foster dad has won her over)-gets along well with dogs and we have been told she ignored cats while still in Texas. We think a home with a friendly dog will help ease her transition to a new home. Looking for a quiet home without a lot of visitors-new people still make Penny nervous.

Adoption Fee is $350. All dogs older than six months will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Dogs also have vaccines that are age appropriate, fecal check, treatment if needed, a vet physical, flea/tick treatment, All of our dogs will be microchipped.

We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check or cash is preferred payment.
