Meet Peanut

Meet Peanut, a precious 7-year-old, 8 lb. maltese/chinese crested mix with the cutest little underbite. This sweet girl was found wandering the streets of Danbury with another dog, who sadly did not make it due to the extreme summer heat. Peanut was barely holding on herself so we rushed her to the ER where she was immediately given fluids and stabilized. After a short stay at the pound, no one claimed her so she's now in search of a new and loving furever home.

Peanut is an absolute sweetheart and wants nothing more than to be by your side. Considering all she has been through, the world is pretty scary to her right now but she formed an instant bond with her foster mom and is making strides every day. Peanut likes to sit outside, soaking up the sun and rolling in the grass. She is starting to show interest in toys and playing too! She has met multiple dogs and cats since being in foster and has done well meeting all of them, although she doesn't engage much. Peanut is still very nervous and unsure of things so she will need someone patient and understanding as she adjusts to a new home.

Peanut walks well on a leash, but gets a little stubborn when she doesn’t want to go somewhere. She is working hard on housetraining but is getting there. Peanut doesn't quite understand how stairs work so a home without them would be best for her. Her ideal home would be a quiet one with someone who is there often and will allow Peanut to come around on her own time.

She recently had full dental work done and was treated for lyme disease and an ear infection. She does have a heart murmur but it does not require any additional testing at this time. She is heartworm negative and her senior bloodwork came back normal.

Her adoption is $350, however we do offer a senior-to-senior discount so if you’re 60 or older, you can adopt Peanut for just $175. She is vaccinated and will be microchipped and spayed in August so adopters should be local.
