Meet Peanut

How handsome is this boy? Meet Peanut!

"Peanut is so sweet and is very well mannered. If I tell him no or get down, he does. If he wants attention, he will come and nudge me or lay his head in my lap. He likes to rub noses with my cats. When he needs to go out, he will whine or come nudge me then head to the door so I know he needs out. When I go into the kitchen, he thinks he will get a treat, so he will sit patiently for it. He is such a sweet boy and every day I see more of his personality which is just adorable."

Peanut came to our rescue when his owner could no longer properly care for him. She wanted to make sure that he ended up somewhere safe, and surrendered him to us. Peanut is a 3-year-old male Great Pyrenees. He is a big boy and weighs 106lbs. He had some missing fur from past hotspots, but the vet gave him the all-clear so we are just waiting for the fur to grow back. Peanut is a social butterfly. He is excited to meet new people and very friendly. When he is out in public, he is curious and wants to greet new people. Peanut has not shown to be a big chewer in his foster home. He has not shown any interest in playing with toys or fetch. Peanut has good manners and doesn't jump on people.

Peanut has a laid-back personality. Outside he sometimes perks up to chase after a squirrel. He does sometimes play too, but is mostly just a chill teddy bear! Peanut loves the car and going on road trips! Peanut is initially excited walks and may pull some once he settles down, though, he walks well. We are unsure how he would do in an apartment setting. Peanut has started barking more, mainly when he hears something. When no one is home, he has free-roam of the house. At night, he sleeps on the dog bed or sofa.

Wanting to welcome this boy home? Better keep reading to make sure you two are the PYRfect fit for one another!

-Peanut is good with other dogs and can be playful with them at times.

-Peanut does well with cats.

-Peanut has not been around children, but given his temperament, we do not see an issue if the kids are respectful of his space.

-Peanut does try to guard his food against the other dogs. If his new family has another dog, feeding time should be monitored and all food bowls picked up after they have finished eating.

-Peanut is potty trained.

-Peanut has not been kenneled in his foster home, and always has free-roam.

An ideal home for Peanut would be one where he can receive a lot of attention. He does well with his foster dog and cats. He does not jump, so we think he would do well with children. He is very gentle. You can apply to adopt his teddy bear at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app

His adoption fee is $225. That includes DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. He will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.
