Peanut lives with other dogs and cats fine, but wouldn't be a match for a household with children. A home familiar with Chihuahuas would be ideal. We suspect Peanut was grabbed on by children as he's a bit nervous of fast movements and of being picked up, though he loves to jump on your lap and cuddle. He does not like strangers and needs to be put in another room when strangers are in your house, he will ankle bite people he doesn't know.
Peanut is such a sweet little soul and he needs people who are kind and patient and loving to give him a chance and the time and space he needs to unfold to be his best little self. For anyone with the urge to control or force your dog to behave a certain way, Peanut is not the dog for you. Though he's little, he's very clear about what he wants, and we need a family who will respect that and listen and accept what makes him feel comfortable.
Peanut is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines (rabies, distemper, bordatella), has tested negative for heartworms, had a negative fecal test, and is microchipped. His adoption fee is $150.
The first step to adopt Peanut is to read all about adoption with Happy Tails Rescue Inc. and fill out an application. If we think your home sounds like a match we'll be in touch. Copy this link to go to our web site: www.happytailsrescueinc.org/adoption-available-dogs

Happy Tails Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit foster-based rescue based in Northwest Indiana. We have no shelter, all of our animals are cared for in loving foster homes until their forever home match is found. All of our animals are fully vetted before adoption, including distemper, rabies, and bordatella vaccines, a heartworm test, fecal test, microchip, and are spayed/neutered. If you're interested in meeting one of our animals please fill out an application first. If approved we will then arrange a meet and greet. Happy Tails does not do same day adoptions because we do a short home visit to make sure our animals are being placed in safe environments.
