-Peaches in Maine
Hello, my name is Peaches. I am a 9 year old mixed breed; this means I don’t know what breeds my parents are. Pictures tend to make me look a little larger than I am. I’m just about 30 pounds, but could stand to lose a little bit of weight. I am spayed, whatever that means…
I recently lost my person that loved me for most of my life. But before he passed, he made sure I would be taken care of. However my now home has many loud dogs, they are very busy, and they scare me. I would love a home where I would be the center of my people/person’s world. I might be ok with a quiet, submissive dog (I hate them in my face). Overtime another dog might be ok with me, but it would depend on the dog. All kinds of things startle me, but my biggest fear is the dark. I can’t see my world around me, so I get scared. I like that my now home has night lights for me?
Ok, let’s talk cats. I think they might be the devil, so I bark at them. The cat in this house doesn’t seem as fearful of me as I wish, so I bark loud at him. He is black, and looks like the dark, so scary!
Oh I LOVE going for walks, and rides in the car. My foster mom says I am a very good rider. I would love it if my
new people/person was retired, or worked from home. I get very lonely. I have my stuffed animals, that I love to show off, but they don’t hug me back….
My foster mom says I should go a dog savvy home, as when I get scared, I growl. My foster mom talks nice to me and calms down my fears. I am getting better now that I know the sounds in this house. She has also slipped a slip leash (that is what she called it) around my neck, and I feel a bit secure then. I will then follow her, and she will pat my head lovingly (I like that). I love to give kisses, and show off my stuffed animals! My foster mom got me a
stuffed pig, I was so excited!
Feeding time is also the best part of the day! My foster mom puts a little bit of canned food mixed with warm
water on my kibble, YUMM!
Please be aware, I will ask to speak to your vet for a reference. Peaches is a very special girl, who has had some hard luck. I want to make sure she has the best life.
Update of Peaches progress ?
I am no longer afraid of the dark at my “for now” home. The noises no longer scare me, and I am very used to the smells, and my surroundings. I also have become friends with a few of the dogs in the home here. One of them I really enjoy playing chase with. I enjoy exploring the yard, and I can’t wait until this white stuff goes away! During the day it is ok, but at night it’s COLD! I however don’t like the rule that I can’t take my toys outside to show off. My foster Mom said toys stay inside, and the other dogs will try to steal them. I love my toys! (She may resource guard, as they are precious to her). Because of this I live in the bedroom, away from the people in the house. When they come into the room, I am so very happy. I typically grab my toy, and bounce, OR I will give them a big hug, (I love hugs).
I went to the vet, and other then my teeth, I checked out very well. The Dr said my blood work looked great for my age; I am negative for heartworm, Lyme, Anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichia. My foster mom also plans to have all my vaccines updated. I get Bravecto every 3 months, and Sentinel Spectrum monthly. My foster mom has also started my on VetriFlex (a joint support supplement) daily, and she uses Composure Pro for my stressful times.
