Meet Pax

NEW ARRIVAL. It breaks our hearts that a young, friendly dog like Pax would be #1 on the county shelter's euthanasia list. One woman was so moved by his pictures and pleas on his behalf that she drove 200 miles to adopt him ... only she planned to keep him outside all the time and had no money for vet bills. Through a string of circumstances and rescue efforts, we are so grateful that Fate delivered Pax safe and sound to STAF.

Here is an early impression from one of our volunteers: "Pax is such a handsome, sweet boy! He was wiggly and happy when I entered his run, giving kisses and then sitting perfectly still while I got him in his harness. What a great hiker, good on leash and energetic but easy to manage. Pax was gentle and friendly with everyone we met. All the dogs we met were little and he was so gentle and playful. He just loved the park and was constantly looking from side to side taking it all in. He cowers a little when people reach over his head, but if you hold your hand out, he immediately goes into snuggle mode. Pax bonds quickly and wanted to walk with anyone we passed."

At just around 2 years old and 50-some pounds, Pax loves to play with other dogs in our yards, so his perfect home will include an enthusiastic dog-playmate and a fenced yard for romping. Pax is all charm and charisma, eagerly awaiting his chance to sweep some lucky family off their feet. If you'd like to meet him, we'd love to hear from you!

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions; we ask that you return for a follow-up visit before taking an animal home.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs.
• Invisible fences: Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we cannot adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 75-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.

Please visit www.STAF.org for visiting hours, a downloadable application, and additional information.
