Meet Pierce

Paige & Pamela are the mom dogs that came in with 5 puppies, Portia, Pierce, Paul, Pippi, and Palmer. Here is their story:

In mid May, Pet Placement Center was contacted by an amazing local rescue group to assist them with a tragic situation in a neighboring county involving a large number of small dogs that were left in a tiny house to fend for themselves after their owner up and moved, abandoning her dogs. These poor animals lived in absolute squalor, received no love and attention, and several newborn puppies were stuck in sofa cushions and had to be cut out from the foam.

Our facility took in 7 of these dogs on the spot and have cared for them since. We have completely vetted all of them (spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, etc) and treated their intestinal parasites and fleas. None of these sweet dogs received any prior vet care and several of the females had been bred repeatedly. In addition to their neglected veterinary needs as you can imagine, these dogs were terrified of humans, new environments, and the touch of a kind hand made them hide or defecate themselves.

We have poured ourselves into showing these dogs attention, care, security, and instilled hope in them that better days are ahead. Some have made more progress than others and have been placed into nurturing environments that understand that they will require patience, need to be taught how to be a dog without fear of abandonment, and acclimate to what a warm and clean home should feel like for our beloved companion animals.

We have 4 of these darlings left to adopt (Pamela, Portia, Paul, and Pierce). They range from 6 months old to 3 years old. They would do best in homes with humans who have experience or can dedicate the time to continuing to socialize them, leash train them, housebreak them, and allow them the time and space they require to bond. They are truly sweet dogs and have done exceedingly well at the shelter and know staff well and know their routine well. They love other dogs and would thrive in a home with another canine to learn the ropes. They will be flight risks so doors must be kept closed and secure harnesses used when attempting to walk them. They have so much potential they just need a kind person/family to show them the good life.
