UPDATE: Passion's transfer to Brick City Rescue was scheduled, but instead a Brick City volunteer adopted Passion!!!

Passion was found tied to door of the firehouse. She may have been abandoned; but we'd prefer to think she lost her way and was found by a caring person who brought her somewhere safe. Her official color is called lilac, but most people would say she was a silver grey with white markings. We waited patiently for someone to come looking. At an estimated 8-10 years old she must have been loved and cared for. Where had her people gone? In these difficult times almost anything could have happened, but she's safe now and it's time to find her a new home. The animal control officers say she's a real sweetheart. At the shelter she keeps her run clean, which usually means a dog's housebroken. And she knows some commands, like "sit". (Because she's older and we don't know if she's ever been in a home with children we prefer to place her in an adult household.)

The next step was to take Passion to the vet. She weighed in at 75 lbs. She tested negative for heatworm/lyme disease, was checked for parasites, and was given her Distemper and Rabies vaccinations. She’s was spayed and a mammary tumor has been removed. (Mammary tumors are common in older dogs that haven't been spayed; and Passion has several.) Then she was returned to the shelter to continue her recovery from the surgeries.

The vet said Passion is quite active for her age. (This old lady doesn’t act like an old lady.) She also suggested that she may not do well in a home with another female dog, but should be fine with puppies. Since we don’t know what’s happened to her in the past, it may be better that she spends the rest of her years as an only pet – as queen of her castle.
