Meet Paddington

This boy is mighty handsome, say hello to Paddington!

There comes a time in life when you just wanted to settle down. You want to put the days of wandering from place to place behind you. And that is exactly what I did. When I found myself in the shelter, I decide right then and there that I wanted a family. One that will give me cuddles, that will love me, will spoil me, and above all be my forever family. I have been given a second chance at life and this time I mean to make the most of it! Starting with winning over your heart!

My name is Paddington and I am a 2 year old male Great Pyrenees mix that weighs around 117lbs on the thinner side. I am definitely a big boy, but also one of the sweetest guys around. I am a total lover boy and do great when meeting new people! I do not jump on people, but will sometimes sit back on my hind legs wanting your attention and lovings. I just love all the pets! I am not sure how I would do in public settings. I can be nervous in new situations, but it doesn't take me long to settle in. Once I feel comfortable with my new family, I would love going wherever they go. I have a medium energy level. I do like being playful with the other dogs, but at other times just want attention. For that, I will put my head in your lap and sometimes even drift off a bit. I can be nervous on car rides, but am starting to feel more comfortable on them. I don't think I was ever on a leash before coming to rescue, so I still get scared on the leash but I am coming around. Given my size, and my hesitancy on a leash I would not make a good apartment dog. I need a home that has nice yard for me to romp around in. I can be vocal when there is reason for me to be. It is a very loud and deep bark though, so hopefully my new family won't mind.
Everything sound good so far? Well, I am not done yet. Now to share how my house manners are! I do like to chew on my bones and toys but they keep me busy. I have not tried to chew on any furniture or anything, but my family should have lots of toys ready for me. I am not a fetch player...however it is fun to watch you chase after the ball when I won't go get it ?. I have not had the chance to play in any water, so am unsure if I am a water dog or not. I don't have any food aggression, but I do love food. So, I may try and grab that treat or stick my hear in that food bowl you are setting down for another dog. I have no issues with trying to resource guard things. When no one is home, I am given free roam of the house with a doggie door and do excellent. At night, I like sleeping in the bedroom with my foster parent. Either on the floor or dog bed. I am potty trained. My foster doesn't ever close the kennel door on me, but I do use it as my safe space sometimes. I am good with other dogs and play well with them. I have not been around any cats, so am unsure how I would do with them. I have met some kiddos and done well with them. Given my size though, I may accidentally knock over the really small/young children.

Now that I have your attention, let us see if you are a good fit for me! I need a home with people that I can be with. I want to be around you and be your shadow at times. I like being inside most of the day, but will use the doggie door to head outside and enjoy the weather as well. I do not over bark, but I have a BIG bark that a close neighbor might not appreciate. I love play wrestling with another dog that is my size. I sometimes still get easily scared about new things or places. But with calm love I relax and becomes ok with it. I do have a fear of coat hangers, so something bad may have happened in my past with them. Either way just remember to be mindful of that when I am around.

Well, now you have it. That is my story and a little bit about who I am. I will leave you with what my foster says about me which is

"The most common thing say when they meet him:
He is BIG
He is so sweet!
What a lover boy.

Loves to put his big ol head in your lap and just be petted for an hour. A pretty easy going guy that wants to be part of the pack and family. He will be scared of new things, but has learned to overcome Everything with a little patients and some creating thinking. Day one he was terrified of hard wood floors . So I put down rug runners and made him paths between the rooms. After a few days I started shortening the rugs so he had to make a step or two on the floor . With a few more days the runners were gone and he has been walking the whole house. Kind of a messy water drinker. A mat placed around his water bowls helps catch the dripping. His head is counter high, so be mindful, he might sneak your sandwich if left to close to the edge."

If I have won over your heart, then please submit an adoption app for me at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app
My adoption fee is $225. That includes my DHLPP, Rabies, and Bordatella shots. I will be micro-chipped, heart-worm tested, ehrlichia tested, have a fecal done, be de-wormed, be spayed/neutered, and will be current on my heart-worm and flea/tick prevention.

Lastly, I am being fostered in Broken Arrow, OK. I have no qualms about going out of state if my adopters don't live in Oklahoma. All I ask is that they come pick me up. Those transports are too stressful and this rescue doesn't put us on those or ship us.
