Pablo Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Manassas, VA

Meet Pablo, a super smart, snuggly guy who is on the look out for a very special adopter that can help him live a fulfilling life.

Pablo is a 1.5 year old, 38 lb neutered and vaccinated male Red Heeler mix. He is house trained and crate trained and resides in his crate for the average work day as long as he gets proper physical and mental stimulation before and after.

Pablo is higher energy and thrives with mental stimulation. He loves to train and learn fun tricks with his human and he is highly food motivated. He has a foundation in cooperative care for vet visits and grooming.

Pablo enjoys humans, but not small ones and needs a child free home. He is still learning how to appropriately greet visitors to his house, he thinks it’s really exciting and can’t quite contain himself.

Pablo is reactive to other animals and will need continued training and management around his triggers. Because of this, he would not be a good fit for a busy city or suburb and requires a calm home environment with a quiet and private outdoor space. His adopter should have some level of experience with reactivity and be willing to continue his training using positive reinforcement. He does have the potential to redirect when he becomes too stressed by other dogs, so he is muzzle trained for certain situations. He does take some behavior medications to help manage his reactivity in a busy environment and his adopter should be willing to continue them at least initially while he settles into his new home.


Pablo currently lives with dogs and cats but would do best as an only pet. He should not live with cats, but he may be able to live with a female dog, depending on their temperament. This would require a slow integration and dedication on his owner’s part.
