Meet Oscar
Oscar is our darling little 5 year old pom/cavalier (we think?) mix who was dumped in a high-kill shelter in AL. No one was sure why, but when he tested + for heartworm, we got an idea.... A wonderful foster family volunteered out in Alabama to care for him during the treatment, which he took like a champ. He also got vaccinated, neutered, had some dental work, and now vet has declared him recovered and healthy!
During that time he remained indoors, and may have regressed a bit in his house training. He is about 80% housebroken now - he needs to get back into his routine. He's very good on walks and it's apparent he has had leash training, but hasn't figured out he supposed to do his business when he goes out, but they're getting there! Oscar is very good with other dogs, is active, and walks well on leash. Cats haven’t been tested, but foster said he did well with children. He is crate-trained and sleeps through the night in his crate.
Oscar really has 3 main loves: Food, being outside, and human company. He actually does a happy dance when it's meal time! He loves to snuggle with his peeps most of all, and be near his foster - he follows her around or watches her and is in heaven on a lap on the sofa. He's an affectionate boy, and licks arms and legs, but doesn't give kisses in your face, which is just fine....;)
He does like to be the center of attention, but shows no aggression or food guarding. He doesn't play too much with toys, but could be because his foster sibs don't. It's a very mellow vibe at the foster, and we think Oscar is best suited to a more active house with kids and active family. He's so ready for a forever home, and will do really well with a loving attentive family.
