Meet Onyx PUPDATE!
PUPDATE:
Poor Onyx has had his share of issues at several homes he has been in over the last several months. Being in a kennel instead of a loving home is taking its toll on him and sadly turning him into a different dog. He needs love and leadership from a strong alpha. At his original home he was mostly outdoors with access to a doggie door which we highly recommend for his next home. He needs to be worked on not marking in the house, which can be done with consistency and patience. He can be rough playing so a large female dog his size and maybe a little more dominate would be the best for him or it would be even better if he was the only dog in the home. In a new area he needs to be on a leash until he is comfortable in his area. A nice big safe area would be great for this boy. He is not a bad dog, he just needs a leader and consistency. And we recommend no dog parks for now until he is established in his new home.
He came from a large family including young children. He is not aggressive, even around food. He does fine with unfamilar dogs but we recommend no small dogs. Why is is he here at our shelter? He made a mistake and injured a neighbors calf chasing it while the neighbors dog was herding the cattle. He was so loved by his family at his last home and they are just heartbroken to bring him here. He is an amazing family dog and anyone will be lucky to have him in their home. Onyx is 4 years young and 92 pounds of love and sweetness.
