Meet Onyx
Hi, my name is Onyx! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Bold, adventurous, inquisitive, vocal :)
-Can Live with Kids: No, Onyx is a little "ruff" around the edges and could easily overwhelm young kiddos. And although we haven't seen any indication of this here at WHS, his previous owner reported possible resource guarding. To avoid any potential accidents, we'll be requiring Onyx to go to an adult-only home.
-Can Live with Cats: Not recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: He does not seem very interested in other dogs, but could possibly tolerate living with another who has a similar personality. Introductions will be done here at WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: No, Hounds are typically not well suited for apartment living and Onyx is no exception. This active, high energy, vocal boy needs lots of room to roam and explore. A home with a large fenced yard would be ideal!
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No
-Energy Level: High
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No
Additional Information: Onyx was part of a large number of dogs transported to the PNW by a Texas rescue group. Without much information given on Onyx's history, personality, behavior, training, etc, the adopters got him home and realized he was not a good fit for their home. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact the original rescue, the adopters decided to surrender Onyx to WHS.
Onyx is friendly and tons of fun, but clearly has not been given much (if any) training. He can be a little pushy/demanding at times and needs an adopter who can work on impulse control and basic manners. A typical hound, he is food motivated, loves to explore, and has quite the lovely singing voice! His ideal home has access to a large fenced property where he can roam freely and sniff around the yard to his heart's content.
