When Oliver came to the shelter, he had a rubber band around his neck, embedded so deeply surgery was required for removal. Oliver then spent time in a foster home, has now fully recovered and is available for adoption. Oliver is a bit shy at first but opens up after a couple of days of love and petting. Once he gets comfortable he will jump in your lap and lick you. He loves to sleep on his back! When he plays with his toys he will start running around the house. He seems fine with cats. He will stare at them but does not chase. At his foster home he learned to use the doggie door on his own and appeared to be house trained. Oliver is looking for a new owner who understands his past and is willing to give him time to adjust to his new home, including supervision until it is clear he understands the house training rules. Because of his neck injury, he is still skittish about a collar or a harness and would need a fenced yard. He needs gentle care and patience so he can gain trust.
