Meet Odin ADOPTED:)

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE: To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in.

Here is the Dog Application that you can copy and paste into a browser: https://fs17.formsite.com/waverlypetrescue/form028182466/index.html

Odin was headed to a shelter when a kind couple in Waverly, Iowa, stepped in and took him in. They are willing to foster him until he gets adopted. He is up to date on shots, dewormed, and neutered.

Odin is about 19 weeks old as of March 29th, 2022. He was born 12/2/21. He weighs about 18 pounds right now and should be about 35 - 45 pounds when an adult.

Border collies are extremely energetic dogs and must have the opportunity to get lots of exercise. They love to run. They also need ample attention from their owners and a job to do, whether that be going on a daily walks with you or fetching a ball. The breed is highly intelligent, learns quickly and responds well to praise. Border collies are considered average shedders. Brushing at least weekly is needed to keep the coat nice. They should be socialized well from the time they are young to prevent shyness around strangers, and they should have obedience training, which can help deter nipping behavior and a tendency to run off or chase cars. A large secured fenced in yard is required to adopt Odin.

Odin or Odi for short is 18 weeks old. He is a ball of fun who loves to go on walks and play tug of war. He is almost fully potty trained with the occasional accident when left unsupervised. He is still teething but seems to only like chewing his toys and big bones. He is great when it comes to fetch and knows the sit command with a 90% success rate. He is very playful with other dogs and is not protective over his food or toys. His main fault is doing a little tinkle when he gets overly excited (a sign of love I like to call it). He occasionally barks when he sees a stranger walk by or when the cat is not in the mood to play. Other than that he is not a very vocal puppy. Odin is an awesome addition to any family and will have an easy time fitting in wherever life takes him.

Odin has not been around children. Older kind children who can play with him would be best. He might try to "herd" a little child and hurt them by accident.

An active and involved owner is needed for Odin.

Will someone please adopt Odin and give him a forever home? $375.00 adoption fee.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. If you have assault, domestic abuse, or drug charges please do not apply. If you have questions, please send an email to waverlypetrescue@mchsi.com

All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $350 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
