Oaklyn (CONC-A-8331) Lhasa Apso Mix Concord, NC

Oaklyn came to us from our local animal control and it was clear from the start that this gentle girl hadn’t had the easiest start to life. Found as a stray and covered in mats, she showed heartbreaking signs of neglect. But even through her rough start, Oaklyn’s sweet and gentle nature has shined every step of the way.

Our vet estimates that this lovely girl is about 3 years old and believed to be a Lhasa Apso or Shih Tzu mix that weighs 14 pounds. She’s quiet, respectful, and seems to know to potty outside as she keeps a clean crate. She recently received a much-needed haircut at the shelter to help her feel more comfortable, and her adopter should be prepared to keep up with regular grooming to keep her feeling her best.

Oaklyn does have a special medical need called Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS), also known as Dry Eye, in both of her eyes. It's clear that this condition was not treated by her previous family and because of this, her vision is now limited—she can only see shadows in bright light. She’s currently on twice-daily eye medication, which she takes without a fuss, and this will be a lifelong commitment. Continued care with a veterinarian will be important to keep her comfortable and healthy.

Despite her past challenges, Oaklyn remains a calm and affectionate girl. She gets along well with other dogs and would be a great match for a quieter home, perhaps with older children who understand her needs. What Oaklyn needs most is a patient, loving family who will give her the care and comfort she’s always deserved.

Oaklyn may not see clearly, but she’ll feel your love—and she’ll return it in the most heartfelt ways.
