ACDRA Nyx is an absolutely adorable, social, & playful girl. She adores other dogs, she adores toys, she adores hikes. She is a true delight. She is housetrained, crate trained, rides quiet in my vehicle (crated for safety). Nyx gets along great with other dogs and loves to play - she can be a vocal player which some dogs aren't sure about at first but so far she's worn everyone down and won them over! She's really good with puppies and adjusts her play style down with them.

Nyx can sometimes (though not always) be initially shy with strangers but warms up quickly. She is extremely smart and food motivated. She came to us with some mild handling concerns - she would get nervous if her collar was taken ahold of or if she was restrained. She has made great progress in these areas! Nyx will be a fabulous addition to an active home!

Nyx was described by the shelter as a kelpie, however, we don't believe she has much, if any, kelpie in her after all. She is a mixed breed dog, with some characteristics reminiscent of a German Shepherd - except that she only weighs about 35 pounds and she has a very petite, pixie like face! ;) She is about 2.5 yars old, spayed, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives.

Nyx found herself in the shelter in Georgia this past December at about about 2 years of age. She was adopted out once and returned when her adopters were unable to afford diagnostics for her tummy troubles. Marked rescue only, we went to tag her, only to find out she had been adopted out again just an hour before. Two weeks later, we were contacted by the shelter to see if we were able to accept her, as she had been returned again. Nyx underwent a battery of medical testing, drug and food trials to try and diagnosis her chronic diarrhea. We ran every test possible on her blood and stool. as well as surgry for intestinal biopsies. The intestinal biopsies were what finally led to the official diagnosis of IBD. We tried all sorts of medications and combinations of medications and special diets but nothing was helping her - she continued to have completely 100% liquid stool... in fact, many of the things that should have helped made her diarhea even worse (explosive and uncontrollable!) Eventually, our vet gave us permission to try her on a raw diet to see what happened, and that was what finally worked! She has been on a raw diet now for about 3.5 months and she is thriving. Her stool is normal and she is happy and energetic.

Nyx's adopters must be willing to continue her on a raw diet. She is currently eating Darwin's raw dog food (https://www.darwinspet.com/) - about 1.5 pounds daily.

We are so happy that this solution is working for her and thrilled she can finally look for her forever family! She is going to make a fabulous addition to the right active family!
