Norris is a sweet, chunky pitty with the cutest earsef! The only thing this sweet boy wants in the world is someone to cuddle. If you have a "no pets on the couch" policy, Norris might not be for you. His foster mom tells us that he is the cuddliest dog she has ever had in her house, and he will spend hours sleeping cuddled up to his people on the couch. He arrived to us back in October, however when he arrived it was noted he was limping on one of his hind legs, and he was quite overweight. Initially we thought the limp might be due to transport, but when it did not go away we had him visit our vets. Unfortunately Norris had a previous tear to his cruciate ligament (think ACL in human) and required surgery. We took some time to get weight off of him and he had surgery back in early February to repair the injury. He is now with a foster doing his rehab and healing nicely. He is an extremely affectionate boy and gets along very well with the other resident dogs and cat. Norris has lived with children and loves them! Anyone who wants to snuggle with Norris is a-ok in his book! He is great with people, but gets a bit anxious when new people come over, especially men, but warms quickly with reassurance and treats. Norris loves his foster dad, so we know his anxiety isn't with all men. For this reason he is kenneled when new people come over until he is comfortable and then allowed to meet on leash. We don’t know if this reaction is due to previous trauma, but we do expect once he is settled in a home he will gradually get better especially following this plan and having positive experiences. We also think once he is able to exercise this will also alleviate some of the pent up energy. He is potty trained in his foster home, but his foster is an experienced dog owner. They did notice he won’t go all at once, so when he goes outside they allow him to pee 3-4 times on different things and that seems to be where he won’t then have any accidents in the house. He is accident free for two straight weeks with supervision, crate training and frequent/longer potty breaks. He crates easily and is content to doze quietly while his foster family works. This boy won’t disappoint!
