LOCAL ADOPTERS ONLY - (Within 1 hour of Troy, VA 22974) - We will not process applications from outside this geographic area.

7/12/18 Norman is 16 weeks old and finally ready for a family of his very own. This exceptionally handsome Great Dane Puppy is all legs and ears....and heart. He is one of the kindest and sweetest dane pups we have had the fortune to foster. He is also deaf, which doesn't slow him down, but does come with a special set of training requirements. Norman is all puppy still, gets along with everyone, and working on his housebreaking and crate training. We would like to see Norman with an experienced Dane owner. Like many Danes, he does have a sensitive tummy, so he requires a standard diet without many "extra treats" and does well currently on a standard chicken and rice Large Breed Food.

Right now Norman has the amazing personality we look for in our Therapy Dogs, and because of this we are looking specifically for a Dane Experienced LOCAL (within an hour of 22974) family, who will be willing to continue working with him in our Therapy Program here at GDU. This would require a time commitment for his new family of coming to classes once a week for 3-six week sessions of classes, and a one year commitment of Therapy Dog Work Following his Successful Registration. We believe "little" Norman has so much to offer this community through his Giant Heart, and amazing love. If you think you may be the right fit, please visit our website for the adoption application. Norman is being fostered at Lake Monticello VA.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of 300.00. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses, as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
