Meet Nora
When I first came to my foster home everything scared me. That includes my foster parents, the TV, opening/closing doors, appliance noises, neighborhood noises, and just about everything was all new and scary. I have made a lot of progress but still get startled easily. Even with my foster parents I need to come to them for attention, not the other way around. If they try to come to me I get nervous and shy away. When I do get scared my reaction is always to either shy away or flop down and freeze. I have not shown any signs of becoming aggressive or fear biting at all. I want to trust and I believe I will be able to, but it will just take time and patience. My foster parents have 4 other dogs. I enjoy being part of the pack, and I get along fine with all of them. I love to join in with them when they bark or howl and run around the yard. I let them know when they annoy me from time to time, but I have never fought with any of them.
For my forever home I will need to find someone with plenty of patience. I am still working on basic things. If I have access to outside, I always do my business there but if shut in I have had an accident from time to time. I really struggle with the leash and will need help with that. When I am on the leash I get scared. I try to get away but when I realize I can't, I will sometimes flop down and become a sack of potatoes. I am positive with time I will get better. I just need to learn. I will definitely need another dog or two in the house to be my buddy and playmate. I will not do well being an only dog. Also, no cats are safe with me. You have to remember that they are small furry creatures that I was bred to hunt. A home with small children running around and making lots of noises is probably not the home for me. A more subdued home will be better for me.
My foster parents know I have a lot of love to give. It will just take me some time to get to know a new family and not be afraid. My foster mom and dad believe that I will be a wonderful member of a family that gives me the love and patience I need to get over my fears. Are you that family who will welcome me in and help me?
