Meet Nora

Considering adopting? The first step is to do the application at
Please do not call the shelter, do the application first.

Nora, a 4 year old Akbash girl, arrived at the shelter overweight and with some severe skin issues. After much work on diet, supplements, skin treatments, and having lab work completed, we have found the problem - Nora has hypothyroidism!

The GREAT news is, this is an easily manageable condition which requires daily treatment with levothyroxine, an inexpensive drug that should cost no more than $35/month, or less if your veterinarian is willing to write a prescription to be filled at Costco or another human pharmacy (the medication is the same as what many humans also take).

Nora is an affectionate and gentle extra-large livestock guardian dog with prior goat experience. She should do well with cats and children, and dogs that she likes.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Nora is a suggested minimum of $125 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
