Meet Nisza
We welcomed beautiful Nisza into rescue from our friends at Clinton County (IL) Animal Care where she landed after her owners could no longer care for her.
Like most dogs who've lost the only homes they've ever known, Nisza was pretty uncertain about ... well, most everything! But since settling in with her phenomenal foster family, this pretty girl has learned how to relax and enjoy their company.
Since being in foster, Nisza has proven reliable on her house training, has learned many basic obedience commands, and is an excellent girl in her crate.
Nisza loves her people--adults for sure, and definitely shows a fondness for men! She really wants nothing more than to be right by your side, hanging out, playing, or just enjoying simple TV time with you.
Nisza has done well with dog-savvy 8-year-old kids with proper supervision. (They are her handlers in the on-leash photos in her profile!) But younger kids make her very nervous, so we recommend a home with older kids only, and always recommend confident adult human supervision.
This young lady is very food motivated and loves working for her rewards. But pay attention to what food you leave out on the counter! She may be sweet, but she can also be opportunistic if she thinks you're not really interested in that rotisserie chicken you left so closely to the edge!
Nisza is definitely a people-pleaser, but NOT so much a fan of other dogs. She gets very nervous around other dogs, reacting with fear and "get away" anxiety, and she simply prefers human companions to canine ones all around.
In an experienced GSD home, integration with a well-matched male dog with stable temperament may be an option. Otherwise, we recommend Nisza is best suited for only-dog families.

* Adult dogs over 12 months of age: $350
* Senior dogs over 7 years of age qualify for our "Seniors FUREVER" program! Seniors are special to us, so we offer two options:
(1) If your heart has a special place for the seniors, you can adopt a senior dog for the regular adoption fee of $350 and this becomes a perpetual fee. You can adopt another SGSDR senior dog at any time from us in the future at NO CHARGE.
(2) If you aren't sure about your future adoption capacity, you may adopt your SGSDR senior dog for a reduced adoption fee of $250.
