Meet Ninkasi

Ninkasi (goddess of beer and brewing) is the only female puppy in the “beer litter” that also includes brothers Pilsner and Lager. This litter are Labrador Retriever/Poodle mixes aka Labradoodles. Their approximate birthdate is 11/30/22. They ended up in a shelter when the backyard breeder dumped their litter because they weren't selling quickly enough. You will notice in her pictures that the breeder cut her tail off when she was born—she is not a natural bobtail. She has the following Labrador qualities: she loves to play in water, chew toys, chase balls and she is very loving. She has definitely exhibited the Poodle qualities of high intelligence and cleverness. She quickly how to escape her exerpen and figured out house training at a young age. Ninkasi is a very smart girl and shows promise for higher order thinking which will make her a great candidate for dog citizenship programs or as a therapy dog. She is very loving and will happily climb into your lap for a cuddle and is also happy playing on her own with a toy. Her new family will must desire a lap dog who will snuggle on furniture with them. Ninkasi currently weighs 45#. She has long legs so she will be able to bound away in the New England snow.
When thinking about adopting a young dog please consider how it will change your life. You are making a potentially 10-15 year commitment. You must have a home environment in which a the dog will not be home alone more than 4 hours a day total. You must be committed to learning how to positively interact with and train your dog. She has been living in a pack of dogs and indoor-only cats and she gets along well with all. As a young dog, she needs a lot of love and attention and cannot be crated as a convenience for you. Dogs should never be crated more than a total of 7 hours within a 24-hour period. You may have to take them out in the middle of the night. Young dogs must be taken out on a regular schedule. sun, rain, sleet or snow. They require lots of play time and exercise. You may have to clean up messes. Due to their breed mix they like to chew..it is how they explore their world so your family will need to be diligent about keeping things that you don't want chewed up put away (phones, remotes, electrical cords, toys, dolls, legos etc). This young dog is what we consider "mouth oriented" due the Labrador in their breed mix--this means they are particularly motivated to chew so you will need to provide plenty of productive chewing toys for them. It also means that they may "mouth" their humans so there should be no children in the home under the age of 6 years old. Having a retriever mix is a wonderful experience if you are prepared. If you are ready to experience the joys of adding this fur-angel to your family , please email havenonearthrescue@gmail.com for more information about adoption.
***All Haven on Earth dogs are fostered in Kentucky and are transported to the Northeast via a USDA transporter when they are adopted.
