Meet Nilly
Nilly is an incredibly sweet senior Lab looking for her bestest friend! Nilly's estimated DOB is 03/10/2013 and she weighs 60 pounds.
• She was brought to us after being picked up by Kansas City Kansas Animal Services as a stray.
• She had a large (almost 7 lb) mass on her shoulder when she arrived.
• We took her in to remove her mass and treat her heartworms. Luckily her mass was only a fatty lipoma (not cancerous!) and she is doing great post op!
• She is also currently on pre-treatment medication for her heartworms and her first treatment is on 7/6/21, after which she will need limited activity for 2-3 months to keep her heart rate low while going through heartworm treatment.
• Nilly is the sweetest old lady!
• She loves to meet and greet people and will happily give kisses & sit/shake for treats!
• She also keeps a clean kennel but can be a bit of a barker when she wants something, so she probably wouldn’t be the best fit for an apartment or communal living space.
• She walks well on a leash and loves to explore!
• Nilly also gets along well with other dogs, but due to her golden girl status she would prefer the company of dogs who aren’t too hyper or crazy (her current BFF is Rowan).
• She is a bit too interested in cats so she would likely chase them in a home.
• Overall she is a wonderful senior dog who would brighten any home.
• Nilly has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms.
MORE ON ADOPTING OUR DOGS...
> COVID-19 UPDATE: PLEASE SUBMIT AN ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION AND A MEMBER OF OUR ADOPTIONS TEAM WILL REACH OUT TO YOU. Please visit our web site at HSGKC.ORG for an adoption application, our current COVID-19 adoption protocol, and other adoption info.Â
> If you decide you'd like to adopt one of the pets you meet, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the pet home with you that day. We’ll instead schedule a pick up date and time that’s convenient for you.Â
> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!
> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.
Thank you for searching for a shelter pet!
