Meet Nikki and Nora

Located in Glenview Illinois; On July 16th 2024, Northcentral Maltese Rescue joined in with other rescue organizations to answer the call from Boone County Illinois when in a driving rainstorm at a rural dog park, over 50 small Maltese and Maltese Yorkie mix dogs were running loose near a high-speed rural highway.
This was a national story as dog lovers everywhere stepped up to help these abandoned dogs.
NMR took in 6 of the small 1- to 3-year-old dogs to try and help with the rescue.

Meet Nikki and Nora.
The 2-year-old, 5 lb small girls are being fostered together. These sweet girls are inseparable.
Both have been spayed, received their vaccines and are heartworm negative. They have all their healthy teeth since they are very young.
Nikki has a clouded and likely blind left eye. The vet guesses she likely had an untreated injury resulting in the cloudy eye. Eye pressures were normal on assess so she is not in pain.
They are not "barkers."

Nikki and Nora go outside to go potty, they will use puddle pads at times, so they are on their way to being house broken. They lead each other to go outside and pee.
They are sweet and well adjusted considering their unknown history, They are not food aggressive, but both really make sure they get their fair share of food. They sleep in the people bed snuggled up together and give doggy kisses anytime you reach out to them. They are so cute together and even though there is no reason to think they were bonded in the large group of abandoned dogs, in the foster house they are always side-by-side. It would be nice if they could stay together.
If you want to be part of a historical national rescue story, get your applications in to Mary Palmer (262 800 3323)to adopt these girls. You will find the application to adopt on our website Http://northcentralmalteserescue.org
