Nikki came to us as a tiny black-haired dog named ‘Midnight’. As soon as we saw her, we knew her name should really be ‘Nikki’. She is at once endearing, sweet wanting to be with you whatever you may be doing. She is an ‘artful dodger’-able to follow you out the door with even the smallest opportunity. You will have to change the way you exit your house unless you want her with you. Not kidding-she is slick at this.
Nikki is a ‘chow hound’. She anticipates meals like no dog I have known. She knows the mealtimes and does a cute little 2 legged begging act asking to be fed.
Nikki and our beloved dog, Belle, are fast friends. We all play the pack sometimes in the evening with a ‘pack howl’. Nikki joins in quickly, and all of us, bonded somehow by this ancient canid practice, collapse on the couch to watch TV. Strange to tell, I think we all feel as though we are indeed a ‘pack’.
Being a foster family we have known lots of dogs and Nikki is a good one. We would keep her if we could. She will be a cherished companion for her adopter. You will be blessed many times over and all future dogs, if any, will find it hard to match all that she brings to your life.
She is not perfect, maybe a little ‘needy’. But that would be a perfect match for someone who really needs a little friend and loves to cuddle. She excels at that! We were so happy to be part of her ‘rescue’ and wish her the very best.

Nikki recently completed several months of treatment for heart worms. She is healthy and ready for her new home.

We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws-malteserescue.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!

Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
