Nettie is 45lb of pure love! And her favorite colors are aqua blue and purple. If you are looking for someone to watch for you to come home Nettie is your girl! Check out the photo of her doing just that.
Nettie came to us from another rescue that helps dogs on the reservations. She came from a hard life but has put that behind her and she is such a happy girl. This very loving girl enjoys pets and cuddles. Our dog team at the shelter describe her as a sweet lap dog that would be content to just hang out with her human watching tv (the good news for you is that she will watch anything with you and she won't steal the remote!). She is definitely a people dog and just wants to be near you. She is a very special girl. She likes to chase cats so cats are a no-go. She would love a 6 ft fenced with a yard to patrol. She needs continuation of leash training. We are working on this skill, she has improved tremendiously but she still has room for improvement. She's a sweet girl ready for a loving home.
Nettie has been diagnosed with mass cell cancer (the lump was removed) but it will likely come back. Due to the cancer we speculate that her life expectancy might be a little shorter than normal expectancy. We don't know how long that will be though. It could come back soon and it could be a while before it comes back, we just don't know. She has been and will need to continue to take antihistimins to slow the cancer. We would consider a hospice foster placement for her which would mean no outlay for veterinary costs for you, just showering her with your love and opening up your home and your heart to her. Our beautiful Nettie is still living her best life despite the cancer. She still has lots of energy and has a bunch of spunk left in her.
Despite the cancer we are dedicated to give her a great life however long that may be. We would appreciate if you would consider fostering our beloved Nettie and helping us give her the best of the best that she so much deserves.
She has been spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $275.
Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission. If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee. It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.
*****We are currently operating by appointment only during the social distancing stage of quarantine. If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal. If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home. The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster. If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit.
