Neo Labrador Retriever & Pointer Mix Palatine, IL

Neo means "new beginnings," which is exactly what this very good boy deserves. Neo is a Lab/Pointer mix weighing in at 40 pounds. This sweetheart has had a rough start to life, first as a stray and then as a long term resident of a kennel. For that reason, despite being 3 years old, Neo is really more like a puppy in terms of understanding dog life.  

Like a young puppy, Neo can get mouthy or chew things that don't belong to him but can be easily redirected with toys or his favorite treats. He is also easily excitable and has been known to counter-surf, but he spent 10 days in a "live and learn" training program to help build his repertoire of commands for times when he needs some extra guidance. This boy is a carb lover -- bread, pasta, kibble, you name it. He's also a lover of all dogs and will play until exhausted.  

Unlike a puppy, Neo is house-trained, going to the door to let you know when he needs to go out. Yay Neo! He is also crate trained, settling down quickly once he's in there. Neo sleeps in his crate at night, often naps in there during the day and easily spends time crated when his family is away.

Neo's only fears are big changes to his environment; he just asks that if you introduce new things to his environment that you show him what's new and reward him with a treat to assure him he's safe.

A dream on a leash and a lover of walks, Neo would love to find a hiking partner. He'd also be thrilled with a yard as he loves the outdoors and would thrive with the ability to run and jump around chasing squirrels and playing fetch.

Neo's foster family says he is a total sweetheart with a fantastic temperament. He just needs a family to show him how great it is to be a dog. Could you be that family?
