Meet Nelson

Hi, my name is Nelson! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Smart, active, adventurous
-Can Live with Kids: Strong, sturdy, older kids/teens should be okay pending an intro at the shelter. At this time we're recommending kids 14+
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised intro.

-Can Live with Dogs: Nelson struggles with reactivity toward other dogs, but during dog/dog tests outdoors, has proved to be much more receptive to interaction. He is selective, and won't consider every dog a friend. He appears to prefer social female dogs over rowdy males. While not every dog is going to be a match for Nelson, it's possible he could live with just the right one after a slow/proper introduction. Please speak with an adoption counselor with any questions.

-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended due to size/energy level/activity needs, but could be possible with the right person/lifestyle. Speak with an adoption counselor with any questions.
-Potty Trained: Unknown
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but would certainly be beneficial!
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: No

-Additional Information: Nelson is an ACTIVE dog who needs to use his brain! Along with plenty of physical exercise, he needs to be enriched mentally in order to succeed in his new home and be the best boy he can be. Nelson LOVES food puzzles (frozen Kongs, treat feeders, Kong Wobblers, etc) and utilizing these tools really helps him settle down and refocus. Nelson is experiencing high levels of kennel stress in the shelter environment, and will likely be much more relaxed once decompressed/settled in his new home environment. An active family will be necessary for this high energy guy, and consistent/continued training will go a long way in his overall quality of life.
