Meet Neiko (nee-koe) a 9-years young male Boxer mix located in Manchester, NH. With lots of livin’ and lovin’ left to do, Neiko would love a family to adopt him in time for summer sun and fun.
Life in a shelter is very overwhelming to this nervous gent. He was surrendered to a shelter when the family couldn’t handle his anxiety-producing behavior. Sadly, a shelter is an unfit place for a sensitive guy like Neiko.
So instead of a hectic environment, Neiko needs a quiet home. He’d like a small family of adults (he says teens are ok if they are the quiet type, but no children because he needs a predictable lifestyle). He gets along well with small dogs, so a nice canine sib would be a good role model to help him gain some confidence. Otherwise, Neiko will be an only pet. No cats or large dogs.
Because he is anxious, he needs a person who is home much of the day. He will need medication to calm his nerves. He just started taking gabapentin which has proved very helpful! If he is showing signs of improvement in the kennel environment, he will feel amazing in a real home! His previous family reported that when they stopped giving him a similar medication, his anxiety overwhelmed him enough to break through his crate. Being contained further affects him, so we’d like him to have a companion adopter.
