Nadia is an incredibly special 1.5 year old pit bull looking for a very special adopter with breed experience. She is 50 pounds of sweetness that has been through a lot in a short time, which has resulted in some behaviors that require patience and love from her adopter.
Nadia has medical conditions that require life-long management. She was born with deformities in her front legs, which corrective surgery could not fix. Nadia is having special braces made for both of her front paws and will need them for the rest of her life. Because of her legs, Nadia’s forever home should be one with low-impact activities, such as walking and swimming versus a running, jumping, hiking. Nadia has irritable bowel disease (IBD) which requires prescription dog food, a limited diet, and daily supplements. And like a lot of pit bulls, Nadia also has skin issues that currently require daily medication and weekly medicated baths. Details regarding Nadia’s medical needs will be provided to serious applicants.
Nadia has been in foster care since August 2020 while recuperating from her surgery. She is a sweet girl, but is overall insecure from all she has experienced in her short life, both before and after rescue. Nadia’s fosters are currently working with a trainer to help Nadia with her insecurity and fearfulness; continued training will need to take place to build Nadia’s confidence. When meeting new people she will bark/low growl. But with slow and proper introductions to people, Nadia quickly becomes a love-bug! Nadia is dog reactive on-leash, but LOVES dogs she is familiar with. Slow and proper introductions inside the house have resulted in dog-friendly interactions. Nadia very much enjoys the company of other dogs, but the introduction MUST be done properly. True to the breed, Nadia is rough with other dogs in a non-aggressive manner. There is a lot of muzzle/nose punching, and full-body bumping during play. If a current resident dog does not do well with that behavior, it would not be a good fit for Nadia.
She is also well intuned to her limits, when playing with kids she know when she is done and takes a break in her crate for a nap!
There is no doubt that there is a lot going on with this baby girl, but as Nadia’s foster and multiple veterinarians can attest, she is so stinking sweet! Nadia is house trained and crate trained. Ultimately Nadia is looking for a forever home that understands she will always have physical limitations and needs to live a lower-impact life to manage those limitations. She needs adopters that can financially manage her medical treatment, and who have the patience, breed experience, and love to help build her confidence and give her the great life she is so deserving of!

She is up to date on vaccines and has had a wellness exam, heartworm tested and micro-chipped.
