Myrtle's Story

Meet Myrtle!

A spirited five-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier from Swannanoa, NC, whose vibrant personality and quirky charm make her one unforgettable companion. With her dazzling white-and-brown coat and sturdy 55-pound frame, Myrtle is ready to steal the spotlight—and your heart! Whether she’s chewing on her favorite bone, tugging on a rope toy, or “talking” to you with her signature snorts and groans, Myrtle is all about expressing her playful and loving nature.

This sweet girl knows her basics: sit, stay, come, lay down, and shake. While she hasn’t had formal obedience training, she’s eager to learn more with the right caregiver. Myrtle is a medium-energy gal who loves an active game session but is equally happy curling up for snuggles at the end of the day. She thrives on human connection and would love to be the center of attention in a pet-free home, where her lovable quirks can truly shine. She’s friendly with strangers, quick to greet them with a wagging tail, and will bring so much joy to her future family!

Now, here’s something important to know about Myrtle: she’s selective with other dogs and has been involved in a few scuffles but Myrtle has never shown aggression toward humans. Because of this history, Myrtle would do best as the only pet in her home, where she can soak up all the love and attention without the stress of sharing her space. With proper guidance, structure, and a calm environment, she’ll flourish as a loyal, loving companion.

Myrtle is spayed, house-trained, and has managed inactive Lyme disease without issue. After giving birth to her last litter of puppies, she experienced some post-birth complications, but this hasn’t affected her day-to-day vibrancy. Myrtle is all heart, full of personality, and just waiting for a new loving caregiver to bring out the best in her.

Could Myrtle be the one to fill your home with love, laughter, and snorty conversations?

If you're interested in providing Myrtle with a loving home, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information on adopting her! Please note that Myrtle will remain with her current family until a suitable new home is found for her.

Joyful Pets Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
At Joyful Pets, our adoption process is designed to create a smooth, supportive experience for both pets and the families who welcome them. We feature pets who are being lovingly rehomed by their current families, as well as adoptable pets from our trusted rescue partners. You can start by browsing our adoptable pets on Petfinder. When you’re interested in a pet, select “Start Your Inquiry” on that pet’s profile to connect with us. If your home aligns with the pet’s needs, we’ll coordinate an introduction with the pet’s current family and arrange a meet-and-greet. Please note that pets listed through our rescue partners follow their own adoption process, requirements, and fees. These details are provided directly by the rescue. For pets rehomed through Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program, adoption fees currently start at $150 for dogs, $95 for cats, and $50 for birds, rabbits, ferrets, or other small pets. When helpful, we may also offer a foster-to-adopt trial period so families and pets can ensure a great match before finalizing the adoption. We’re grateful that you’re choosing adoption and giving a pet the opportunity to join a caring family. Our goal is to make the process clear, joyful, and well-supported, with resources available every step of the way.
