Myles's Story

Sweet boy Myles, born 06-27-23, was surrendered by his owner when they didn't have time for him any longer.

Myles is a great boy, weighing in at 8 pounds.

He lacks a lot of confidence and social skills, so he'll need a quiet area to call home in more suburbia then the hustle and bustle of the downtown core. This will also help with his potty training, as he gets really nervous outside and the calm of a backyard to do his "business" would absolutely be his preference over the city streets.

He's a gentle and sweet dog, but has a lot of shyness in his personality in new situations, meeting new people and around other dogs.

Myles will need someone home most often, as he does have separation anxiety, which goes along with his complete lack of life confidence.

He's a vocal boy and will express himself vocally with all his feels; good, bad or indifferent.

Myles, being a poodle, will need regular grooming every couple months, so ensure that is in your budget when considering adoption. He came to Mattie's Place ungroomed so we got all his mats and tangled coat cut off November 5th and we'll let him grow the coat back out until adoption.

Myles would be okay in a home with older kids as he has a wonderful playfulness about him that might match older kid vibes. He can be around younger kids but their energy will certainly make him more nervous, so living in a space with young kids won't be a match.

I can't imagine Myles having an issue with cats and with other dogs he would just avoid until a relationship was established.

Myles is just a really good dog that needs an adopter that understands the sensitivity of a poodle personality but also the dedication and love a poodle can give to their people when they live a fulfilling life.

FROM THE FOSTER:

Myles is a shy, gentle, and cuddly guy with lots of love to give. He is happiest sitting in your lap or with his head on your leg and loves belly rubs.

He is shy with strangers but can be easily won over.

He is nervous with other dogs and prefers to give them space.

Myles is a loyal shadow, and wants to follow you from room to room. He is not a fan of being left alone for any period of time and will whine or bark when he’s feeling ignored or wants more attention. He doesn’t like to sleep without you in sight and would strongly prefer to sleep in the bed.

Myles loves playtime and he enjoys all his toys and running and chasing you. He also likes to stand on his hind legs and dance!

He doesn’t know any commands at the moment but is overall polite and easy going, unless you are eating something that smells tasty and then he will shamelessly try to sneak a bite.

Myles can be vocal and will let you know when he’s upset, excited, or if he notices other people or dogs near the house.

He’s not 100% yet on potty training, but is almost there.

He prefers a calm environment away from busy streets to do his business.

------------------------------------

ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, dentals if needed or any added surgical needed surgical care, food, nose to tail health exam, toys, leash|collar, winter coat (seasonal), poop bags, dishes and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance with immediate coverage on adoption day for any illness or injury not pre-existing.

----------------------------------------

To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in it's current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviours not previously seen.
