___

Meet Mr. Major – also known as the class clown, the snuggle king, and your future best friend.

This 5-month-old Retriever/Hound mix was rescued from a Houston-area shelter along with his siblings and is now living it up in a loving foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS. He's waiting for his forever family to find him and can't wait to be part of someone's world.

Mr. Major has already earned quite a few nicknames thanks to his big personality and expressive little hound whine. Whether he's zooming around the yard, chasing his siblings, or "talking" during playtime, he’s always entertaining and full of life. His foster mom describes him as a total character—funny, vocal, curious, and bursting with goofy puppy charm. He’s still discovering the world around him and has a lovable habit of whining when he’s excited, which only adds to his endearing personality.

With his adorable face, spotted markings, and floppy ears, Mr. Major is hard to resist. He’s expected to grow into a large dog and will need a family committed to helping him continue learning all the basics. He’s not yet house trained or crate trained, but he's a smart boy who will thrive with consistency, positive reinforcement, and a family willing to put in the time to help him grow into a well-mannered adult.

Mr. Major hasn’t been introduced to cats or young children yet, so any introductions should be done slowly and with supervision. Like all puppies, he sometimes jumps up or tries to nibble during play, so a home with older, respectful children or experienced dog-savvy adults would be a great match.

Since we don’t have information on the parents, we’re estimating Mr. Major will be large when full grown. His best fit will be with a family that understands what it means to raise a big, active pup into a well-mannered adult. We’re looking for adopters who will provide him with regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment.

Mr. Major will thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, as long hours in a crate are not healthy for a puppy his age. If you work outside of the home for more than 4 hours, please describe your plan for how Mr. Major will get the care and attention he needs during the day. Without this information, we cannot consider an application.

As with all puppies under 6 months, Mr. Major will be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract to be completed when he is old enough.

If you're looking for a loyal, goofy, loving sidekick who will fill your home with laughter, playfulness, and puppy snuggles, Mr. Major might just be the perfect match. He’s ready to bring joy into your life and grow up by your side.
