Mr. Krabs is considered "special needs" because at this time, he needs to be on allergy medication for the entirety of his life. Our choice for him is an Apoquel pill once a day, which seems to be working really well for him. His Apoquel costs about $2.00 per day, if purchased through Chewy.com.

Meet our cool guy named Mr. Krabs! Mr. Krabs is about 4 years old, and he came to our shelter after he was found abandoned. When he first came in, he was extremely skinny and he had a severe skin infection. After receiving some antibiotics and medicated baths, his skin has gotten much better! He has gained weight since joining us and he is a big fan of food! We decided to do an allergy panel on Mr. Krabs, and it turns out he is allergic to many things including dust/storage mites, mold, and some types of trees. The only food he came back allergic to is Brewer's yeast. This is not a super common ingredient in food, but is used in some supplements so his new family will just need to check the ingredients list for this.
Mr. Krabs is very playful and he really enjoys toys, especially tennis balls. He is very talkative when he plays and will push the toys up against your legs. He enjoys butt scratches and head rubs. Mr. Krabs is good with other other dogs and can be a bit rough when he plays. He is also good with cats. He is looking for his forever family to show him what it really feels like to be loved! Mr. Krabs is neutered and up to date on rabies vaccines. He can go to a home with children 15 years old and older.

Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal.
