Mozzarella Pit Bull Terrier & Shepherd Mix Warrenville, IL

Mozzarella is probably a pittie mixed with some type of shepherd but it’s all a guessing game really since we do not know what the father looked like. She is almost 4 months old and was found with her 7 brothers and sisters and their momma, Velveeta, who looks like a pittie mix. They were found in a home that had no running water or electricity and were surrendered by the owner who was facing animal cruelty charges. Thanks to their momma, Mozzarella and her siblings somehow survived. Momma Velveeta, on the other, was severely malnourished and basically skin and bones. Miraculously, all her cheesy puppies had nice little round tummies when they arrived. The puppies are now eating puppy food and momma has gained weight and is getting a taste of the good life.

Mozzarella has a gorgeous tan coat with a slightly darker face. She was the only tan puppy from the litter with a distinctive white mark down her snout and it made her easily identifiable, so she learned her name first out of the 8 puppies! She was also one of the first pups to learn how to sit on command and learn how to use the potty pads! We think this must mean she’s probably the smartest of the bunch!

Growing up with her siblings around her definitely helped her in other ways too because Mozzarella absolutely loves other dogs! Not only is she a fantastic player with her siblings, but the few times she has been with the 4 resident adult dogs in her foster home she rocked it! She is a little ball of energy and has never met another dog she didn’t want to play with! As for how she gets along with other four-legged friends, she has not been around cats yet, but we can cat test upon request. When it comes to the smaller two-legged kiddos, she has been around her foster parents’ young nephew dozens of times and does extremely well with him! She just wants to play, and he is happy to play with her!

She didn’t get a great start at life but thankfully since coming into rescue she has had nothing but the amazing life she and her siblings deserve to have!
