Moxie - A Miracle Dog Pointer & Boxer Mix Conover, NC

Meet our miracle pup “Moxie”.
Moxie is pretty close to a perfect dog, NOW. Moxie is currently 37 lbs but still needs to gain another 5 lbs or so. She has completed a 5 week obedience class and knows commands - sit, lay, down, place, and walks well on a leash. She loves to play with other dogs and has made good friends with the cat in her foster home. She is completely house broken and loves kids. She has been spayed and is fully vetted now.

On 11/26/18 one of our animal control officers found and rushed this little girl to the vet’s office. She was unable to stand or lift her head. Upon arrival, Moxie was comatose, a thermometer would not register a body temperature, and her gums were severely pale. One of our local vet’s offices worked a literal miracle and was able to bring this sweet girl back away from death’s door. Moxie was severely anemic, severely hypoglycemic and only weighed 17 pounds. It was also discovered that Moxie had pieces of bone, evidently she had attempted to eat at some point, stuck in the back of her mouth on her teeth. This had caused an infection in the back of her mouth and she was unable to close her mouth all the way. After Moxie received IV fluids, basic vet care, and her body temperature was brought up she was finally able to lift her head! Because Moxie was so close to death, she had to receive a blood transfusion on the Nov 27th. Due to being so weak, it wasn’t until November 29th, 3 days after being saved, that she was finally able to take a few steps on her own. This little miracle stayed at the vets office for 1 week and she was finally cleared for release to go to a foster home. Moxie seems to love women and is not very sure of all men. However, she LOVES the male officer that rescued her. We have recently discovered that Moxie LOVES children.
