Hello world my name is Moxie, my foster parents call me Foxie Moxie, and I am a 2.5 year old happy Doberman. I think it is appropriate since I am on my very own weight loss journey since I arrived at Saving Dobermankind. Before arriving with SDAR I was with an owner who fed me 8 cups of food a day with whole milk filling my bowl. I will say I love food, so I didnt mind. Little did I know that it was causing me a lot of pain, as I was a whopping 110lb for my small frame. I wanted to do fun things, yet I wasnt socialized not taught any commands. I didnt know how to act in the real world, so my prior owner never took me anywhere. My first few weeks in the real world was very scary and I screamed and barked at everything. I swear everything was trying to kill me. My foster at the time didnt know what to do with me since I had never been around children, so she sought out a trainer help to teach me how the world works. As it turned out my trainer was a better foster fit for me, and I have been slowing excelling in the real world a little at a time. I have been learning that food will be there, it is the correct amount, and that I dont have to guard it to make sure Im fed. I have no issues with humans and my food, yet I to begin with I was scared to have dogs near any human food I could smell. She says its because I am now on a diet and Im a bit hangry. Perhaps she is right. I do try to sneak her milk from her cereal from time to time. She is quite quick to let me know that isnt allowed. I dont know how she always knows when Im trying to be sneaky. She has also been working on me not guarding my toys or her. She just doesnt understand how much of love my toys and her. Well, she says that even loving her, I cannot possess and guard her from my temporary fur brothers and sisters. She says my progress in that is going very well. Currently I am learned how to come, sit, off, quiet, down, out, place and maintaining my commands. Some of my training was put on hold because my Foster Mom noticed that something wasnt quite right with my body (besides my sexy roundness). I limped a lot and would get upset if things touched my hind quarters, specifically my left side. I would take everything out on the dogs around me. So, to the vet I went, and we ran lots of test and took lots of x rays. They concluded that I have Wobblers, and I am only 2.5 years old. My foster mom said that she and the rescue will do what they can to help reduce my pain and I do believe them since I am feeling better. I have been getting laser therapy twice a week, on CBD oil and treats, pain meds, and thyroid meds as well. My foster mom told me that I will be getting a procedure soon so I will feel even better and then I can lose more weight with having a lot less pain. I am so excited. I will have these Gold Beads injected into my neck on Sept 13th of this year. My foster mom said I, have started learning leash manners like walk and heel now that my harness is here. She also said that I am an exceptionally happy morning pup that loves to wake her up and cuddle for loves. I love going to pee first thing in the morning, doing zoomies, then having breakfast. She says I am too happy for my own good in the AM, I say maybe she should drink more coffee. I have been doing well with my temporary fur brothers and sisters with socialization. I am learning how to nicely ask to play instead of yelling at them. I have also learned that they are not the cause of my pain and I do like to play with them. However, I do not like first interactions with new dogs, so I get to meet them with a muzzle. I dont mind my muzzle since it helps with my emotions, and I make better decisions this way. I prefer not to be around small dogs as I do think they are toys, yet I have been taught to have manners with my Yorkie brother. I will not do well in a home with cats as I see them as a play toy. They run, I chase, then I bark at them to play with me and most of the time they hiss and slap me. I want them to play back yet they never do, and my foster mom says I stress them out. I say we both need to lose weight and a good game of chase will help. My foster mom doesnt agree with me, so since I love her, I try my best to not chase them to make her happy. Currently I have not been reintroduced to children on an extended basis, so my foster mom said not kids under the age of 12. I do really like teenagers though. I will say I love to be with my humans wherever they go, as I am a very Velcro Doberman. I love to get pets, loving, and tons of cuddling. I love being in the backyard to do zoomies, I love ball and frisbee, spring pole, and suckling on a stuffy. I am very active for my weight and my foster parents have taken me camping in their RV, I have been in water, great recall, I understand my boundaries camping, and I love side by side riding. My foster mom has this cool cooling vest to keep me cool and rex specs to protect my eyes. I really do like camping a lot however I was so tired as I wasnt used to all that activity. I do get scared of new things, but if you help and guide me, I will do anything for and with you. My foster mom says I have gotten my weight down to 86lbs and I need about 14 more pounds to go to be healthy. She hopes I will be halfway there before my procedure in September so I will then be ready to move on to my forever home. I say all I need is someone to love me, help me stay pain free, live the best life I can, and continue my training as it needed to keep me successful.
