Monty was brought in by a Good Samaritan who brought him in on a cold winter day.
He’s a bit of a free spirit at heart that doesn’t quite know his lanky sleek muscular size and romps around the yard like a large puppy.

Monty absolutely loves to run around the yard with a rope toy, or a ball and appears so happy when doing so. He is learning to give it up on command, or “drop” for another toy to be thrown. Monty will also amuse himself by prancing around the yard with a toy/ball having his own fun. He loves tug games and will benefit from this with his human pal especially when learning to “out” and get rewarded with yummy treats. He is a guy on the move and still needs to learn some leash manners so he can enjoy many walks around town. He also loves some good ole fashioned butt scratches and will sit for a treat look at you with those big sweet eyes.

He is very handsome and does appear housebroken. We always let adopters know that even housebroken dogs needs a chance to adjust once in a new home setting. Monty will thrive with structure, guidance, play time and training. Due to his larger size, and need to understand his boundaries, a home without smaller kids to start, would probably be best for this guy. He has done well in the yard with other dogs during playgroups but a meet and greet is required with any resident dog.

Because of the COVID19 situation, the shelter is closed to the general public. If you would like to meet any of the adoptable dogs, please fill out an application online (if you are not already pre-approved) , call the shelter, and leave a message with your name and phone number and the dog you're interested in. Have patience, and they will call you back when they can. From there, a time will be scheduled for you to come and meet the dog. Please be patient, and remember they are very short staffed at the moment.
