Meet Molly

Heartland generally serves Indiana, Kentucky and the Cincinnati areas. However we cannot cover every area. We do work with our sister and brother rescues in other areas as well. Please consider your local Sheltie rescue before applying outside your area.

We will NOT ship our available dogs. A home visit by a volunteer is required before an application can be approved.

Molly was found as a stray and never reclaimed. She is estimated at 3 to 4 years old.

Molly is quite a spitfire! She is running and playing like crazy! She hasn’t had an accident in the house, loves food and treats of any kind, except apples.
Molly hates it when she is put in her crate but settles down and sleeps through the night.
She likes to dig for moles and sniff for rabbits. She is NOT a couch potato!
She is spunky, smart, energetic and very affectionate. Molly is perfectly housetrained and likes to lay in your lap for short stints. She is showing some interest in toys and likes to collect them on the bed she has decided is hers. She plays some tug with her young foster brother and they love to just play with each other. She eats great and hasn’t shown any sensitivities to anything. She loves food and is very treat motivated.

Now the things to be aware of: Molly is determined to be with you even if you go out in the fields. I went into the back field without her to do some things and all of a sudden, there she was! I had left her in the yard. She dug her way under the gate. So in my infinite wisdom, I put a row of rocks under the gate and tested it. She managed to dig and pull the rock far enough that she scooted on her side under the gate. The fence around my property is buried so that would take way more digging to escape from. But anyone with a fence has a gate. And houses have doors and floor coverings.

She loves to run! Molly takes great pleasure in racing around the property at top speed. I find it very entertaining but it does not bode well for leash walking her.
Molly has a real talent for digging and hunting moles and other small creatures. Highly entertaining but someone concerned about their landscaping might get aggravated with her. I take my dogs into the two fenced fields that I have so that they can sniff and hunt and do dog things. She loves loves this part of the day. This said as I wash the mud off her from her latest digging adventure. She is a handful and not for first time Sheltie owners.
